Black Myth: Wukong is an action role-playing game set in the year 2024. It was made and released by Game Science. This game is based on the famous Chinese book Journey to the West and follows Sun Wukong, a monkey who looks like a person from the book.
Black Myth: Wukong came out on August 20, 2024, for PlayStation 5 and Windows. An Xbox Series X/S version was planned to come out later. Critical reviews were mostly positive about the game. Ten million copies were sold by August 23, making it one of the most quickly-sold games ever.
The Destined One is a monkey that the player controls. He or she is based on Sun Wukong from the book. The main character’s weapon is a stick that looks like the Ruyi Jingu Bang. During battle, the stick can get longer or shorter. There are three different staff poses that can be used in battle: the smash stance, the pillar stance, and the thrust stance.
Managing resources is part of how the battle works. Focus can be gained in a number of ways, such as by hitting light attacks and timing your dodges well. When the focus meter is full, you get a focus point. You can chain these points together to start a different combo, or you can use them to charge a strong attack on their own. Running, dodging, and striking all use up stamina.
Spells need time to heal and recharge before they can be used again. They are put into four groups: mysticism, change, strand, and changes. The main character can change into a different creature or being by transformation. The change Red Tides, which turns into Guangzhi, a wolfman with a fiery glaive, is one example. The changes have their own set of moves and health. They can be used after a short pause and don’t cost mana. They stay alive until they either lose all of their health or might by striking.
If you wear a spirit, it gives you a skill and a passive affect. Spirit skills change into different forms that can only do one move. They can be used after a rest, but they use up qi. When you beat certain enemies and absorb their spirits into a gourd, you get them. The Wandering Wight is an example of a spirit because it hits with its head.
The game mostly moves in a straight line, but there are some open places in between. Along the way, there are keeper’s shrines that serve as checkpoints for the player. The main character faces different yaoguai as enemies all over the world. The level of challenge can’t be changed by the player, but it changes each time they play via.
Around 10 a.m. (UTC+8) on August 20, 2024, Black Myth: Wukong came out for PlayStation 5 and PC (Windows). There will be an Xbox Series X/S version, but the date of sale has not been set.
